GIRLS TEAMS - DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM
Ready to commit? Move on up to the Developmental Program!
The Developmental Program (formerly Junior Olympic) is a more serious time and financial commitment to gymnastics. Athletes are required to train significantly more, which allows them to progress faster, while also developing greater strength, flexibility and technique. Foundational work in levels 4/5 (compulsories) leads to higher levels of success in levels 6-10 (optionals). We value each athlete and the work they put in to reach these goals and the success they seek!
COMPULSORIES (LVL 4/5) - 16 hours per week
OPTIONALS (LVL 6-10) - 20 hours per week
What else is involved?
All team athletes attend 3-5 competitions each year. Qualifying athletes attend state-sponsored postseason competitions for all levels, with regional competitions for qualifying advanced level athletes. Qualifications for state meets are based on scores achieved throughout the regular gymnastics season, and qualifications for regionals are based on state scores.
Important Fee & Enrollment Information
Team is a year-round commitment! Team athletes are responsible for team fees, which includes the Annual Membership Fee, and helps to pay for meet entrance fees (including state meets, but not including regionals) and coaches travel fees, as well as team leotards and warm-ups. Fees vary from year-to-year, but are the same for all team members, with the exception of new enrollees who need leotards/warm-ups in an off-year rotation. These fees are broken up between the summer & fall months, with due dates specified at the beginning of each team year. Team practice dates are opened to all families at the same time at the beginning of each competition year. FGC staff handles the enrollment of students into classes for team, and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. As such, all enrollment requests must be submitted in writing via email to info@fresnogymnastics.com. Any other form of enrollment request will not be honored. From USA Gymnastics:
The Women’s Development Program (formerly known as Junior Olympic, or JO) was created with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses.
